Assembly instructions:
Clear and precisely drawn illustrations are vital for instructional information such as assembly instructions.
How many of us have experienced the imported flatpack product with incomprehensible instructions written
in poor English and badly drawn diagrams? Ideally, the illustrations should provide all the information
covered by the text. When exporting products, clearly drawn illustrations are often the only
information the customer can understand so it is vital that these are clear and unambiguous.

Figure 1,
for example, is an illustration to show how natural fibres can be twisted together to form a continuous length
of cord by using a simple, free-spinning "bobbin". The illustration tells much more than several
paragraphs of text and does not need to be translated into other languages.
Line drawings are always preferable to photographs, where clarity is often lost in superfluous detail.
