5 Things You Will Learn by Travelling the World

Sharing is caring!

You really cannot anticipate the impact travelling the world will have on you. It really will change your life in ways you could never have expected. I was a very different person before I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime – and now I want to tell you what you can expect when journeying across the globe, just like I have.

Broaden Your Mind

The reason I started this website was to virtually take you with me along my adventures. I wish you could all have seen what I have seen; to experience the sights, sounds, smells and moments that will never leave me. And that’s what travelling does – it allows you to enter communities and cultures you never knew existed. It allows you to learn about things you never knew there was to learn.

To say that travel broadens the mind might be a cliché, but it is a cliché for a reason – because travel will change your outlook. You will meet people from all walks of life. You will share beautiful moments with strangers you will never see again, and months with people who will become friends for a lifetime. Travelling will change you. So don’t expect to be the same person when you return home.

The Hidden Gems

Travelling isn’t about heading to the most popular tourist destinations. Don’t get me wrong, New York is an amazing city and Rome offers such an amazing history with so many beautiful buildings, but if you really want to travel, if you really want to see the world, you have to look beyond the tourist destinations.

Why? Because it will allow you to live moments many other people have failed to live. To experience beautiful cities and countries that are unheard of. You will meet people you would never ordinarily meet, and try foods you never knew existed. Plus, it’s fun to travel to a new destination with no preconceptions.

Avoid the Shortcut

Travelling is all about the adventure. So why on God’s beautiful Earth would you take the shortcut, when the long route is always so much more fun? Yes, you could step aboard a cheap flight to a destination, but travelling by car, train or even on foot could be so much more enjoyable, resulting in moments and experiences that are simply priceless. Trust me, if you want to seriously travel the world, don’t take the easy road.

Try New Things

Forget what you like and don’t like, and open up your mind to new experiences and tastes. You can’t call yourself a traveller unless you’re trying new things at every turn. Taste a different cuisine. Push yourself to do things you won’t ordinarily do at home. These are the moments that will make a holiday an adventure.

Live in the Moment

There will come a day when you may have to return to normal life. One day you may have to unpack your suitcase and get a job. That’s why you must live everyday like it is your last. Appreciate every moment as it comes, knowing that the adventure may last forever or be over tomorrow. Love each day and the memories will stay with you long after the experience is over.
